Important Performance Info

Posted in Thrill The World Boise with tags , , , , , , , , on October 17, 2012 by ttwboise

It’s almost thrill time!

Please read this message carefully (and more than once!) as there a lot of important instructions included. If you are unclear about any of this information or have questions you are encouraged to email

The rehearsal on Thursday, Oct. 25th, 6pm at the Old Penitentiary is MANDATORY for all performers! (Don’t lose your job over this, but please be there if you can swing it!) Janelle will be in town and would like to make any last minute adjustments at this practice. This will also be the rehearsal time for the Alternate Dance participants.

Please register online right away! We need to know how many people are attending each performance as soon as possible.
If you have friends that would still like to learn the dance it is not too late to include them. Online registration will close Thursday, Oct. 25th.
* Click here for the ADULT REGISTRATION FORM
* Click here for the CHILD REGISTRATION FORM

All performers must be registered and checked in before the performance. You need to arrive for check in at noon on Saturday so that we have time to have everyone sign in, get some group photos, and run through any last minute instructions. The check in table will be in the grassy area adjacent to the Grove Plaza (behind the Brick Oven Bistro and in front of Wells Fargo). The dance starts at EXACTLY 1pm so be sure to let your supporters know to arrive early or they may miss the show!

Alternate Dance – Friday, Oct. 26, 7pm, Idaho Steelheads
* This group will be sent instructions seperately

Frightened Felons – Friday, Oct. 26 and 27, 9:30pm, Old Penitentiary, 2445 Old Penitentiary Road Boise, ID 83712
* Check in at the front gate as a performer at least 15 minutes early. Leave plenty of time to find parking as this is a popular event. Proceed to the basketball court area (on the left as you come in). Please stay in this area until performance time.

Off Center Dance – Saturday, Oct. 27, 4pm & 8pm, El Korah Shriners, 1118 W Idaho St, Boise, Idaho 83701
* Check in at the entrance at least 15 minutes early. You will be directed where to wait until performance time.

This is a non-for-profit event but there are many costs involved in production. We do not ever want to have to charge for participation, but cannot afford to present this event without your help.

Please consider donating $5-10 at practice or any of the performances. All of the organizers and instructors are donating their time to bring you this community event and it is not fair to ask them to cover the cost as well.

Costumes and make-up are your responsibility. Be creative and help each other out! There are plenty of online tutorials for how to apply zombie make-up with varying degrees of complexity. You may dress as any type of zombie you like EXCEPT Michael Jackson. We have already designated our MJ for this year.

Invite your friends to attend the performances. Bringing your own fan club can really help your performance! The worldwide thrill time on the Grove is free and open to the public. All other performances require admission for spectators (but not performers). We choose our partnerships carefully and can guarantee that The Off Center Dance show and Frightened Felons events will be worth attending!
***Edit: We can allow one adult into each performance as a chaperone for under age performers. Check that person in as a performer. We are sorry that we can’t accommodate entire families, but this is the agreement we have with the participating venues. ***

Updated Rehearsal and Performance Times

Posted in Thrill The World Boise with tags , , , , , , on September 28, 2012 by ttwboise

It is not too late to join us for this year’s Thrill the World Boise events! Remember, you are welcome to attend as few or many of the rehearsals as you feel necessary to learn this routine. You are also highly encouraged to work with the videos and each other at home. Invite your friends!

Please take a moment to look at the performances scheduled October 26-27 and think about which ones you would like to attend. The official worldwide performance will be October 27, 1pm on the Grove.

The Downtown YMCA has graciously offered their space for our Tuesday and Saturday rehearsals.  Participants that are not YMCA members will need to sign in as guests at the front desk.  Check the calendar for times and instructions. Your instructor will be Boise newcomer Gia-Ninh Chuang. We are very excited to welcome him to our team!

Gia-Ninh Chuang

…And now back to your regularly scheduled program…

Sorry for the interruption in rehearsals and thanks to those of you who have offered your assistance in getting back on track! We are still seeking additional resources for rehearsal space and sponsorship, so let us know if you can help.

Again, this is a not-for-profit event, but there are costs associated with putting it on such as registration, web hosting, rehearsal and performance space fees, and advertising. We do not ever want to have to charge participants for this community event, so any donations are greatly appreciated.

We will be resuming rehearsals this Thursday, September 27th at 6pm at the Old Penitentiary, 2445 Old Penitentiary Road Boise, ID 83712. More rehearsal times will be announced as soon as possible. Please continue practicing with the videos and each other!

Your instructor will be the lovely and talented Savannah Goode.

Savannah Goode has had consistent dance training over the past 22 years.  She has been trained in the areas of tap, modern, jazz, lyrical, musical theater, hip-hop, ballroom, ballet, and pointe.  Savannah was first introduced to tap and ballet classes from Dance Arts Academy in Caldwell, Idaho, under the direction of Pam Levi.  Later after moving to their Boise location, she began jazz, modern, and pointe under Chris Lameroux. Savannah then trained at Centre Stage Studios under the direction of Jessica Ruffell and became part of their company and musical theatre teams for seven years. During this time she competed at numerous competitions, danced on a Carnival Cruise, and performed at various community events. She has been a part of E-Emotion dance company in N. Carolina as well as the UNCC Gold Dusters.  She has also been a team member of the Maneline dancers at BSU and the Boise Burn Hot Shots with Jaime Moore. Savannah has worked with choreographers such as Kelli Brown, Annie Kennedy, and Emanuel Eustis on various projects.  Savannah currently claims a spot on the local dance company Off Center Dance Project and teaches for, Elevated Dance Project, Boise Parks and Rec, and coaches the Idaho Arts Charter School dance team.

Please note, all previously announced rehearsals have been canceled. The studio has unexpectedly withdrawn their support and we are working on securing a new space and instructors. We will update you with the new schedule as soon as possible. In the meantime, please keep practicing with the videos at home!

Thrill The World 2012

Posted in Thrill The World Boise with tags , , , , , , on September 9, 2012 by ttwboise

Welcome back, Boise zombies!

The official Thrill The World Boise performance will be
OCTOBER 27 at 1pm at the Grove Plaza.

Event staff:

Janelle is still producing the show (from Los Angeles!) but has a great street team in Boise to make sure everything goes well.

The dance:

Due to the requirements Thrill the World International we will be doing the 6 minute version of the dance this year. It is the same movements as in the shorter version, just repeated more times. However, this means that you may not be able to learn the entire dance in one rehearsal. Please plan on attending more than one rehearsal AND practicing with the videos at home.

We have many other performance opportunities to be announced. This event is open to performers of all ages and abilities but all are required to learn the official TTW choreography. Please invite your friends!

Unfortunately we have lost some of our support from the past years and are seeking new sponsors. This is a not-for-profit event, but donations will be accepted to cover expenses. Please email us or speak with Janet at rehearsal to make a donation.
